I’m glad I left the U.S. when I did. President Obama is doing the opposite of everything he’s promised; probably more than any politician in history. I suggest you get on YouTube and watch “The Obama Deception”, then verify all the claims made in that film through your own research.

Don’t take my word for it. Look up the info yourself. The world’s powers don’t control the Internet … yet.

They will if you let them.

I used to think the democrats and the republicans were both evil, but in different ways. Now I know they’re both bad, but in the same way. Political affiliation does not matter. Look to who is pulling the strings at the top. Look at the corporations.

… and let me tell you, this place is pretty effin’ amazing, man. As I work tirelessly to find a job, I will be less present on this blog, but that is not to say that I have forgotten about my dreams. There are some great things coming down the pipeline. I’ve learned something of significant value during my time here. I read Paul McKenna’s Change Your Life In 7 Days and I found that when I was trying to actualise my dreams, I was doing it completely wrong.

Turns out you actually have to imagine those great things happening to you for them to actually happen. So let’s say you want to be the richest man in the world … and you’re a woman … simply saying to yourself, “I will be the richest man in the world” isn’t going to get you anywhere. You have to imagine yourself (being a man) seeing your bank statements growing. You have to feel how it feels to have a massive fortune. You have to imagine seeing what you expect to see when you’ve amassed great wealth.

This is very powerful information. Everyone should read every book written by Paul McKenna. I have been listening to his hypnosis tapes since I was a little boy. He helped save me through many of the treacheries of childhood. Now his books are helping me reach my goal … you know, the one where I want to become America’s next top automotive journalist.

Life Must Be Treated Like a Monet Painting - Not Toilet Paper

Here’s a quote from yours truly: “The term ‘American Dream’ is so ’20th century’. The way things are going in this country, we’re in the 23rd century.”

The United States is the modern Roman Empire, but we aren’t about to fall. We will continue to thrive, but the days of people immigrating here for a better life are over.

As for me, I’m leaving this country the day after Christmas. I’ll be landing upon Sydney, Australia on the 28th of December.

I have effectively given up on America. What I want for Christmas is something America cannot give me, and that’s a job. Yes, I may be currently employed as a tutor, but I care not to increase my hours, for making it full-time is not in my best interest.

There’s plenty of work in Australia – they have not been affected by the Great Recession. I have my one-year working visa and I plan to obtain employment down under within my first three weeks in the country. I’ve always fancied living out one of those stories where someone comes to a country with little money in his pocket and ends up becoming someone important and established.

As a writer, I need to expand my horizons through life experiences. How am I to be fascinating to readers if I haven’t traveled the world? I’ve only been to Europe so far – there’s much more life to be lived. There’s much more land to be traveled.

I tell people what I’m doing and their eyelids dilate like a vaginal canal upon childbirth. The first thing that comes out of their mouth is, “Oh, I could never do what you’re doing.”

The sad truth, though, is that they can. They just let their minds multiply their adversity to discovery and living life. Life is to be lived in the same way bubble wrap is to be popped. When you just exist you make a mockery out of the brilliance of life’s potential. This is the same as using a Monet painting to wipe your ass.

So that is why I am fleeing this country. I may not make it in Australia. I may return to the states in three weeks. Who knows. At least I tried. At least I got a vacation out of it.

Is what I’m doing stupid? I’d love to prove you wrong. Is what I’m doing crazy? I would hope so.

Golf Carts, Golf Carts, Get Your Free Golf Carts

It’s a new day in America. We are living in a country where the government is practically giving out free golf carts. This is amazing.

Now this isn’t the government’s way of honoring Tiger Woods, nor are they planning a national holiday for the troubled golfer.

What we’re dealing with here is a tax credit that allows you to buy a golf cart and then get reimbursed for the purchase price – think of cash for clunkers, but cooler.

So what’s the catch? There really isn’t one. Just buy a street-legal golf cart, and the government will provide you with a tax credit in the range of $4,200 to $5,500. If your golf cart happens to cost less than what you get back from the government, hey, Merry Christmas from the U.S. Government.

Last night I saw the HBO Original Documentary By the People: The Election of Barack Obama. In an age where the American dream is more elusive than ever, the Obama presidency reminds us that although the American dream is wounded, it’s still alive and kicking.

One part that stuck out to me was Campaign Manager, David Plouffe’s pep talk to volunteers. He reminded them how far the campaign had come because of their commitment and devotion. He praised them for taking a candidate cloaked in the shadows of obscurity and turning him into a fierce competitor in the final stages of the Presidential race.

David Plouffe’s words remind us that we all start at nothing, but we eventually become something. Whatever we want to become, we can get there if our minds let us. First we have to let our minds let us. The beginning of a long journey toward success may seem daunting, but consider the journey already started, for Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu once said, “Even the longest journey must begin where you stand.”

So whatever it is you’re planning – however you plan on taking over the world, your journey has already begun … and you needn’t worry about how quickly you get there. Just remember this Confucius quote: “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.”

The party didn’t suck. Lots of hot upcoming actors and hip producers … “young Hollywood” all clamoring to meet the next person who could help their ascent toward stardom.

I got to meet a lot of people whom I’ll be interviewing for this blog – some with charismatic car collections that match their owners’ wizardly flare, some with resumes that would take ordinary people lifetimes to fill, and others who have so much promise, when you look into their eyes its like staring into two crystal balls foretelling their eventual success.

The evening may have held a party vibe, but when you really come down to it, it was a business mixer. Of course, in Hollywood there’s no such thing as a business mixer, especially when you can turn it into a party.

Business cards were exchanged left and right all night long. People at this party understood that it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.

Most attendees I asked told me they knew nobody at the party. Same for me: I was invited by the future leading lady of North America Katie Chonacas. Katie plays “Tina” in the upcoming film starring Nicolas Cage and Val Kilmer. Katie and my brother Jeff were the only people I knew at the party, so I spent the night getting to know new faces. That got me thinking about the power of networking.

Thomas Edison once said, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” Most of us can be a genius if we work hard at it. If we work hard at networking, we can accomplish more with our genius. According to life coach Gal Baras, if you commit to building strong relationships with as many people as possible, you’ll be doing more business.

Even if you’re not in the business of doing business, I’ve found that the more people one meets, the more interesting one’s life can be. People are like individual colors in a complex image displayed on a computer screen. Would you rather enjoy the beauty of a flower on an 8-bit 256-color screen, or a 64-bit 16.7-million-color screen?

I’ll take the latter.

While the national unemployment rate is hovering around 10 percent, the underemployment rate is closer to 22 percent.

I’m a person who loves to take bad situations and make good out of them. My political views are more left than right, but I’ve taken a page out of the right-wing playbook: instead of waiting on others to get me through this recession, I’m taking the initiative to rely on myself to get through this recession.

So how am I doing that? I’m diving head first into going for my dream of becoming the future number-one automotive journalist in North America.

I think one possible way of doing that is creating my version of Top Gear; one of the most popular television shows on the planet with 350 million viewers worldwide. It is also the TV show that has inspired my career path for the past seven years.

American audiences are craving more Top Gear, but they’re stuck with year-old episodes on BBC America. NBC tried bringing an American version of Top Gear hosted by Adam Carolla to the primetime lineup, but that fell through … and that’s a shame because I was at that pilot episode’s filming, and the show was hilarious. More on that in another post.

But there is a craving that needs satiation. My goal in life is to fill that content vacuum.

So what’s the next step in achieving my ultimate goal? Today I’ll officially unveil this site to my pals on Facebook. I should have my business cards by week’s end as well.

And in the near future? Well, since I’m starting at nothing, I have to ask a lot of questions, so in my interview series, I will be asking people advice on how I should tailor my path to success … not just in the automotive media, but in other professions as well, like acting and business and academia because however people have become successful, the common thread among them is the good advice they can give.

This site is here to inspire all – not just the car people.

I’m still figuring out how to post my newsletter sign-up form to the Web site, but I’ve already set up everything on the newsletter side, so I’ll suss out the WordPress side soon.

So with that, welcome to the first day of the rest of my life: November 2nd, 2009. A month from today, my life is going to be much different.

Now on to documenting my pathway to success. If there is one thing that builds success with self-marketing people, it’s the ability to create a list. This is what this new (3-year-old) site is for. Sign up for my newsletter. I plan on buying my autoresponder this evening. The goal of this site is to generate a list of 100,000 fans in six months, that way when I come out with a book, I’ll have 100,000 eager buyers for it.

The ultimate goal of this site is to show you that someone who is starting from nothing can be something. The economy sucks. If you don’t have a job, you probably won’t have one for a while. With that in mind, it’s time for me to take charge of my destiny; time for me to directly pursue my dream. Today I discovered this is the way to do it.

I hope my story inspires you to go out and start doing whatever it is you love to do. I believe in the old saying, “You’ll never have to work a day in your life if you like what you’re doing for work.”

There aren’t enough people in this world living by that old adage. With this site, I hope to inspire people to live their dreams.
